Splat Art
Spring 2012 Doing & LearningSomewhere between a blank page and a coloring book lies Splat Art: Blops & Dribbles in Need of Your Scribbles. Created by Andrew Pinder, this activity book by Klutz offers over 200 "blops" to be drawn upon, around, and inside by scribblers young and old. One page, for example, shows a photo of white crumpled paper next to a drawing of a penguin. "A perfect place for a penguin party," says the page, which will inspire one to look at the crumpled paper and draw a snowy scene. On other pages, paint splatters become spiders, bananas become dolphins, and bark becomes rough-skinned animals. One page covered with old, sepia-toned photographs invites you to draw funny faces and write silly names for each photograph. The book will inspire creative thinking and kick start imaginative play.
