Big Little Games - Flingin' FrogsSpring 2012 Games
Big Little Game's Flingin' Frogs is pretty challenging, but pretty fun as well. It is a simple idea, and is well packaged and well constructed and I like that the pieces all store right inside the container. With a messy play room, this feature is a must.
The game is more of a physical challenge than anything. It includes a five-level lily pad scoring area, twelve frogs (three of each color), and the rules. The lily pad comes unassembled, but its pieces click together easily. Testers needed a few tries to get the frogs to fly properly. They still struggled with accuracy, but that was part of the fun. That said, our youngest tester became frustrated as he tried to get some hop out of his frogs, but he still persisted. Even adults had trouble launching the frogs accurately, making this a fun choice for a family game with a level playing field. There isn't a tremendous amount of learning to be gained from this toy, but it can help with math and scoring skills, taking turns, competition, fair play, patience and persistence. At $8.99, it is fairly priced and is a good game to have on hand in the toy room. It is simple, but challenging and fun.
