BBQ Blitz
Spring 2012 GamesThe design of BBQ Blitz is wonderful: from the curvy box to the spatulas for flipping burgers, the game is beautiful and fun to put your hands on. It comes with sixteen plastic burgers, four plastic spatulas, four plates, and the box, which doubles as a game board.
Essentially, it helps kids to learn turn-taking and to develop motor skills. The players are each assigned a 'type' of burger; Each plate shows four burgers topped with either cheese , pickles, relish or ketchup. They each use a plastic spatula to race each other to flip the small burgers. The game develops memory and dexterity, as players try to find the four burgers with their topping. Once a player has all of their burgers, he or she can top their burgers with buns. Younger children may be frustrated by this game at first, especially when playing with older siblings with better motor skills. Still, the game is fun enough to draw them back to it. There is some flexibility in the game. Testers found success in turning it into a memory game and taking turns to play, and all children enjoyed the hands on nature of the burgers, spatulas, and buns.
