Rapid Reflex
Spring 2012 GamesRapid Reflex is a fast and simple card game for three or more people.
Eight cards, each with a different color, are laid on the table. Each player takes a turn as the 'reader' and reads a card from a different stack, with phrases like, "right hand, carrot". The other players then compete to see who can slap the correct color card with the specified hand that matches the item called. Whoever is fastest gets one of the color cards, and whoever collects all the colors first wins. But don't get greedy! "Winning" more than one card of the same color causes a forfeit.
The gameplay is fast, solid, and fun. Younger players may have trouble with some cards asking them to find the color of a "Cardinal", "Robin's Egg", or a "Forget Me Not." This problem is easily solved by removing difficult cards from the deck before play, if necessary.
An adult should probably play, to help judge "I was first!" disputes, but this is an opportunity to teach sportsmanship and fairness. This small, portable, quick-to-play game is a solid addition to your family game shelf.
