My First ClockFall 2011 Games
This fun and educational game includes one clock with moveable hands, twenty-seven double-sided clock cards and instructions for three play variations. In "A Whole Day," players learn about the clock, hours of the day and what is typically done at each time of day. "Setting the Clock" requires players to set the hands of the clock correctly to demonstrate a given time. And the goal of "Fast Time" is to recognize a given time as quickly as possible. The instructions also include an explanation of the clock hands and how to tell time.
Players develop number association, recognition of routines and schedules, a sense of time periods and important time telling units such as full hours, half hours and minutes. The cards of the game are self-correcting, which provides improved understanding and confidence as children can work through without intimidating adult correction. As with most games, key developmental and social skills such as cooperative play, turn-taking and following-of-instructions are practiced.
The game is a fun way to help children learn and practice what can often be a challenging and frustrating skill to learn.
