ProjectExplorer
Fall 2009 WebsiteDeveloped and designed by a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster "the next generation of global citizens," ProjectExplorer's young, professional staff of "guides" visit foreign locations. Their projects are loaded with short, high-quality, educational and entertaining videos (everything from historic buildings and geographical destinations to the country's cuisine and music), photos, travel blogs, and research, even some great audio clips of world music.
In the Jordan project, for instance, users can take video tours of Amman, Petra, the Dead Sea and other locations. Sub categories for each of those include such videos as shopping the Amman marketplace, floating in the Dead Sea, learning some Arabic words, meeting Bedouins, etc. ProjectExplorer's young guides blog about their experiences abroad on the site as well, which makes for an interesting personal perspective on other cultures.
So far, users can access trips to "Shakespeare's England," South Africa and Jordan. Upcoming projects include visits to Malaysia, Central America, Greece and Italy. But there's a virtual movable feast of foreign culture and information here for anyone with an appetite.
