Shuffle the cards, remove five cards from play, then spread the remaining cards face down on the playing surface. The player who has most recently taken a bath goes first and flips over one card, then the player to the left turns over one card, and so on. Anytime three matching characters are visible on the table, players race to grab the cards and place them in their personal ugly pile. When two players grab the same card, the first to say “ugly, ugly, ugly” (or the name of the Uglydoll character for advanced play) gets to keep it. A player who mistakenly grabs a card group that does not have two matches is penalized one card from their personal pile. When all cards are turned over and no more matches can be made, the player with the most collected cards wins the game. The game is fast, loud and a lot of fun for under $10.
