Review:
Throughout history, the U.S. Presidents had some unusual pets. Children will love learning little-known facts about the founding fathers. Washington brushed his horses' teeth probably because he lost all but one of his own by age fifty-seven. Jefferson had grizzly bears and his pet mocking bird would follow him up the stairs. Lincoln, forever the great emancipator, freed a turkey as well as a race and Coolidge spared a raccoon that was meant for dinner. Other presidential pets included alligators, elephants, snakes and goats. The illustrations of pets and their presidents are done in soft colored pencil will make readers smile.
